Mika Young is a multidisciplinary artist, writer, singer, poet,
and founder of MIKA UNLIMITED™ — The Luxury
Inner-Lifestyle Movement™, rooted in the belief that our value
is inherent.
A Berklee College of Music alumna, Mika studied voice as her
principal instrument and Music Business/Management as her major.
Over the years, her understanding of voice has expanded beyond
what can be sung or spoken.
Voice is presence. I am the instrument. Any expression of it is
its fruit.
Through music, poetry, spoken word, writing, narration,
education, and participatory experiences, Mika creates work that
invites us to recognize the immeasurable value already present
within us — and live from it.
The person before the performance.
The value before the applause.
An original song featured on a Berklee College of Music and
Mercy Corps compilation CD created to raise awareness and funds
in response to the atrocities in Darfur. The song celebrates our
shared humanity and the enduring dignity that unites us across
cultures.
A live spoken-word performance exploring the journey of coming
home within oneself by rediscovering voice, dignity, and the
immeasurable value already present within us.
The six-minute performance culminates in a moving call-and-response
that invites the audience to become active participants in the
experience.
The original theme song for my forthcoming book, Someone Needs
to Hear Your Voice — an invitation to recognize, honor, and
express the immeasurable value already present within every
person.
